My name is Denise Meads, and I’m a graduating senior at the University of Cincinnati studying journalism with a certificate in Sports Media and Promotion. Through experiences in reporting, copywriting, and marketing communications, I’ve developed a passion for telling stories that inform, connect, and leave a lasting impact. While I’m especially interested in sports, I’m also drawn to the people, culture, and communities that shape the stories around us.

Whether I’m covering a game, writing a feature, or developing content for a brand, I strive to create thoughtful, engaging work that connects with audiences. I believe the best stories go beyond reporting facts—they create understanding, spark conversation, and help people see the world from a new perspective. That belief has shaped the way I approach every opportunity, leading with curiosity, authenticity, and a commitment to meaningful storytelling.

Throughout my college career, I’ve had the opportunity to work across newsrooms, higher education, nonprofit organizations, and an advertising agency. These experiences have strengthened my skills in reporting, interviewing, copywriting, strategic communications, content creation, and collaboration while showing me the many ways storytelling can make an impact across different industries and platforms.

 

Whether working independently or alongside creatives, editors, marketers, and clients, I enjoy finding ideas that resonate and bringing them to life through compelling content.

Outside the classroom, I’ve sought leadership opportunities that have challenged me to grow both personally and professionally. Through organizations like the University Honors Program, the National Association of Black Journalists, Sisters Impacting Sisters, and other campus initiatives, I’ve developed as a communicator, mentor, and leader while building lasting relationships with people who continue to inspire me.

As I continue growing as a journalist and storyteller, I’m excited to explore opportunities across sports, news, and media. No matter the platform or audience, my goal remains the same: to tell stories that inform, connect, and leave a lasting impact.
