Junior Year:
Growth, Recognition, and Alignment

Junior year was one of the most defining years of my college journey. I continued building consistency in my roles with the College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services (CECH) and Sisters Impacting Sisters (SIS), where I strengthened my skills in marketing, storytelling, and community engagement. In SIS, I helped shape content that reflected the experiences of Black women at UC, focusing on visibility, connection, and authenticity across our platforms.

 

This year also brought meaningful academic and professional recognition. I was awarded the Lee Evans Memorial Scholarship, which affirmed my commitment to my education and growth. I also continued to expand my work in journalism, beginning a deeper feature project on Amir Jordan’s story, which challenged me to think more critically about narrative, access, and how I approach reporting beyond surface-level storytelling.

 

Professionally, I secured an internship that allowed me to apply my skills in a real-world setting and better understand the industry I’m preparing to enter. Alongside that, I was recognized on variable measures, another moment that reflected my growing presence and work being seen beyond campus spaces.

 

Beyond titles and accomplishments, this year was about expansion. I pushed myself to step into new spaces, trust my voice more, and take on opportunities that once felt out of reach. I learned how to balance multiple roles while still showing up with intention in each one.

 

Junior year left me feeling more grounded, more confident, and more certain of the direction I’m heading in. I’m not just participating anymore—I’m building, refining, and preparing for what comes next as I head into my senior year.
